Knowing what is fabric or cloth is important in the design industry. In this article, we will learn the definition of a fabric and some basic concept about it. Fabric is a cloth which is used to make a garment or anything that has a specific purpose.

The fabric is cloth or other flexible artificial material produced by natural or artificial fibers, weaving or knitting yarns or thread, nylon, wool, silk, or other threads together. Although non-woven fabrics are made by bonding or felting fibers together. Fabrics are used for making things such as clothes, curtains, and sheets.

According to Wikipedia, "textile or cloth is a flexible material consisting of a network of natural or artificial fibers (yarn or thread). The yarn is produced by spinning raw fibers of wool, flax, cotton, or other material to produce long strands. Textiles are formed by weaving, knitting, crocheting, knitting, or felting."

Fabrics originate from a number of sources including natural fibers or man-made fibers. Natural fibers are hair-like threads obtained directly from plants, animals, and minerals. And man-made synthetic materials include polyester, ozone, acrylic, nylon, rayon, acetate, spandex, lastex, orlon and Kevlar.

In the past, all cloth was made from natural fibers, but now textile fabrics are made from natural or synthetic fibers include cotton and leather, even seaweed is used to made fabric.
